The Police in Rivers State has debunked claims that it acted a script of the Presidency by blocking off the venue of the Repeat National Convention of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)  this was contained in a statement issued by the the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr Francis Odesanya on Wednesday,  he denied reports that his men sealed off the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Convention in the state.The party’s National Convention billed for today at the Sharks Staduim in Port Harcourt, the state capital, was reportedly sealed-off by a team of police officers, men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and plain cloth security personnel.Reports ealier had it that the venue was sealed due to the conflicting court rulings and leadership controversies currently rocking the party.The Force Spokesman, Donald Awunah, while speaking with Channels Television had said, the primary responsibility of the police was to protect life and prevent …

Family Escapes Death as Neighbour spices soup with Otapiapia

Luck can be timely, that was the case and  fortune of a family of three residing at Baale Aiyetoro Street, Ajegunle area of Apapa,  who narrowly escaped death after a bad neighbour spiced their delicious pot of soup with insecticide popularly called "Otapiapia" in Ajegunle, Lagos.What started as a normal routine of soup cooking  for a woman ended up as a disaster as she went to buy salt for the meal she was preparing only to return and find out that the aroma of the soup has changed to that of an insecticide popularly called "Otapiapia".  The woman who was suspicious quickly notified her landlady.The landlady was said to have arrested the only co-tenant on the premises and took him to the traditional ruler of the area, who handed him over to the police.It was gathered that the suspect, Gordon Daniel, during interrogation, confessed to the crime. Buhari's Bodyguards and Police Set to Clash

The Inspector General of Police  has directed the Commissioner of Police,  FCT, Abuja to deploy mobile policemen to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Office in Abuja, venue of the planned protest by former bodyguards to President Muhammadu Buhari who participated during the 2015 presidential campaigns.The Spokesperson of the group of Presidential Bodyguards during the 2015 Presidential Election, Badiru Olabiyi Balogun, on Thursday gave a directive to his members to converge for a protest to the APC National Secretariat.  He further informed the media that his group will go ahead with the protest.He said, Two truck loads of mobile policemen have been deployed to our campaign office. In light of the situation playing out at the National stadium,  Port-Harcourt, Rivers State due to the scheduled Repeat National Convention,  the leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)  have issued a statement via its Facebook page asking that it's members should hold on as they are trying to resolve the matter with the Police. I miss my Husband: Escaped Chibok Girl: Amina Ali

One of the only verified escapee from the dreaded, callous terrorist group in Northern Nigeria Amina Ali,  was reportedly quoted as saying she misses her husband.   You would recall that shortly after her escape in company of her supposedly husband,  she was immediately transfered to a health Centre where she was taken care of and the husband, identified only as Mohammed Hayatu at the time of their escape, told a witness that he too was kidnapped by Boko Haram. He was placed in military detention for interrogation by Nigeria's joint intelligence center. Runaway Bride in Eket, Akwa-Ibom State

The worst that can happen to a groom is to have a runaway bride.  A situation where a bride refuses to go ahead with the wedding  after spending so much on the traditional marriage and paying the ever increasing Nigerian bride price. Teachers Protest Over Unpaid Salaries in Bayelsa State

The streets of Bayelsa State got more than vehicles and pedestrians as secondary school  teachers took over major roads to press home their demands before marching to the state secretariat in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital in south-south Nigeria.
They claimed that while other workers in the state have received half month payment three times, they have not received anything.The teachers also rejected government’s proposition to give them half pay for the month of August on Thursday, insisting that the government must pay them as the other workers.The Chairman of the Academic Staff Union of Secondary Schools (ASUSS) in Bayelsa State, Mr Oyiemi Ebiredeni, said that members of the union had been battling to survive, as a result of unpaid salaries.The representative of the government, Commissioner of Education, Mr Markson Fefegha after addressing the protesters, told reporters that the executives of ASUSS and the state government had different understanding of the outcome of the closed …

Associated Press, yesterday released a statement credited to Boko Haram alleging that dozens of the 219 Abducted Chibok Girls have been killed in the ongoing coordinated air strikes against its members,  this was contained in series of tweets sent out by Ahmad Salkida.  Recall that Ahmad Salkida was just recently declared wanted by the Nigerian Army for withholding statements concerning the whereabouts of the abducted school girls.
