Rivers State Police Rescue Remaining 7 Oil Workers From Kidnappers

Seven remaining victims of the September 2, 2016 Kidnapping along Omoku/Elele axis of Rivers State have been rescued by the Rivers State Police.  This comes not later than a day after the escape of three other persons from the same kidnappers den. All 14 of them were kidnapped on September 2, 2016, Confirming the rescue of the oil workers, spokesman for the police in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement said the police smashed the hoodlums in the early hours of Sunday and rescued the abducted.  According to him, no ransom was paid. The victims are currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital. By this rescue all 14 kidnapped oil workers are out of captivity. The Police Commissioner, CP Rivers State  said that however, investigations is still on to unravel the circumstances surrounding the kidnap.

14 NestOil Staff Kidnapped in Rivers State

Unknown Gunmen on Saturday abducted fourteen workers from the Nestoil oil company in Ogba Egbema Ndoni Local Government Area (LGA) of Rivers State while travelling in their company van. According to eyewitnesses, the employees were returning from their work site at Omoku area and were en route to Port Harcourt when they were ambushed by the kidnappers. Reporters was unable to speak to anyone from the company’s management to issue a statement at the time of publication. When our correspondent contacted the Public Relations Officer of Rivers State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the development and stressed that their men have swung into action. He added that police have located the staff van. Mr. Omoni said policemen have moved into the bushes in that area and expressed optimism that the workers will be rescued.

PDP RALLY, WE ONLY ACTED ON COURT ORDER - CP Rivers State

The Police in Rivers State has debunked claims that it acted a script of the Presidency by blocking off the venue of the Repeat National Convention of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)  this was contained in a statement issued by the the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr Francis Odesanya on Wednesday,  he denied reports that his men sealed off the venue of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, National Convention in the state. The party’s National Convention billed for today at the Sharks Staduim in Port Harcourt, the state capital, was reportedly sealed-off by a team of police officers, men of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC and plain cloth security personnel. Reports ealier had it that the venue was sealed due to the conflicting court rulings and leadership controversies currently rocking the party. Repeat National Convention: Face off with Police We are on top of the matter - PDP

In light of the situation playing out at the National stadium,  Port-Harcourt, Rivers State due to the scheduled Repeat National Convention,  the leadership of the People's Democratic Party (PDP)  have issued a statement via its Facebook page asking that it's members should hold on as they are trying to resolve the matter with the Police. Heavily armed security officers have sealed the venue of the party’s convention, thus, preventing people from entering the premises. Reacting to the development via its official Facebook page, the party called on its supporters nationwide to remain calm as its leaders were already on top of the situation. “We are witnessing huge presence of contingent of security agencies within and around the Sharks stadium, venue of our Repeat National Convention. “Party leaders, our governors and other leaders of the Party are on top of the situation and have directed all members and other Party supporters nationwide to remain calm and await further ins
