Family Escapes Death as Neighbour spices soup with Otapiapia

Luck can be timely, that was the case and  fortune of a family of three residing at Baale Aiyetoro Street, Ajegunle area of Apapa,  who narrowly escaped death after a bad neighbour spiced their delicious pot of soup with insecticide popularly called "Otapiapia" in Ajegunle, Lagos.

What started as a normal routine of soup cooking  for a woman ended up as a disaster as she went to buy salt for the meal she was preparing only to return and find out that the aroma of the soup has changed to that of an insecticide popularly called "Otapiapia".  The woman who was suspicious quickly notified her landlady.

The landlady was said to have arrested the only co-tenant on the premises and took him to the traditional ruler of the area, who handed him over to the police.

It was gathered that the suspect, Gordon Daniel, during interrogation, confessed to the crime. Daniel told the police that, “the devil pushed me to do it. I doused the soup with sniper insecticide so as to deal with the family. The husband insulted me last time because of electricity bill. He called me a poor man; the devil pushed me to do it. I am sorry.”

The case has been transferred to the state Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) Panti, Lagos. The Suspect Daniel on interrogation told Detectives that it was the devil who pushed him to commit the atrocity  adding that it was because of a rift he had with the woman's husband that was the main reason he opted to poison the whole family.
