DSS Foils Escape Attempt of Bala Mohammed's Aide and Fmr. DG AGIS

A middle-aged man named "Idris" has been apprehended by the Department of State Services (DSS) detectives for attempting to facilitate the escape of a former BBC Hausa Service reporter, Jamilah Tangaza from Nigeria through a small border town in Kwara state. The DSS agents caught Idris with Ms. Tangaza's passport after he had attempted to get it stamped by the Nigerian Immigration Services outpost in Chikanda in Kwara State. According to a DSS official, Ms. Tangaza was waiting to collect the passport and exit Nigeria through the border town. She could not be found after her emissary tipped her off that he'd been arrested by the DSS. Ms. Tangaza was detained in August 2016 by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission accused of stealing N800million as while she served as the Director of Abuja Geographic Information Systems (AGIS) as well as a Senior Special Assistant to the  former Federal Capital Territory Minister, Bala Mohammed.  A  source at the EFCC told Sah

President Buhari Appoints New Supreme Court Justices

President Muhammadu Buhari has requested the Senate to consider and confirm the nominations of two judges as Justices of the Supreme Court. The Senate President, Bukola Saraki, read the letter conveying the request after the Senate returned from a closed-door session on Tuesday. The nominated judges are Sidi Bage, Nasarawa State, North Central; and Paul Jauro, Taraba State, North East. In the letter read by Mr. Saraki, Mr. Buhari said his request followed Section 231(2) of the Constitution of Nigeria, as amended. The President sought the expeditious attention of the Senate, Mr. Saraki read. Mr. Jauro, who was born on June 26, 1954, became a judge of the High Court in 1998. Ten years afterwards, he was appointed Justice of the Court Appeal. Mr. Bage, born on June 22, 1956, became Federal High Court Judge in 1992 before his appointment as Justice of the Court of Appeal in 2000. BREAKING News: Nigerian Secret Police(SSS) Now Invading Homes Of Federal Judges In Abuja

A contingent of officers from the Department of State Security (DSS) this evening surrounded the home of two Nigerian federal judges, Nnamdi Dimgba and Adebiyi Ademola. The federal judges currently reside at 32 and 34 Samuel Ogbemudia Cresent in the Apo Legislative Quarters of Abuja. The invading officers arrived and surrounded Justice Dimgba’s home around 9PM Nigerian time, according to sources speaking to SaharaReporters. Shortly after the siege, neighbors of the judge told SaharaReporters that the DSS agents began breaking into his compound with a sledgehammer. Mr. Dimgba was reportedly not at home at the time of the invasion. However, a source said DSS had been uncomfortable with recent rulings by the judge and because of his vocal criticism of DSS for violating rights of persons detained at its facility. SSS And Police Want Edo Governorship Election Postponed, Due to Security Threats

The Nigeria Police and State Security Services (SSS)  delivered a joint statement today Wednesday requesting that the September 10th 2016 Edo Gubernatorial Elections should be postponed,  this was as a result of intelligence gathered that violence might erupt during the process.  They also said that ‘credible intelligence’ indicates plans by insurgent/extremist elements to attack vulnerable communities and high population soft targets during the forthcoming Sallah celebrations between12th and 13th September, 2016. “Edo State, is amongst the States being earmarked for these planned attacks by the extremist elements,” they said in the statement, which was signed by DCP Don Awunah for the police, and Garba Abdullahi for DSS. “The public would recall that similar threats were issued during the May Labour Day and Democracy Day celebrations as well as the Ed-el-fitr holidays in July, 2016,” they said.  “However, the security agencies were able to decisively disrupt and thwart the insurgent
