Kidnappers Release Wife Of Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor Emefiele

Margaret Emefiele, wife of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) Governor, Godwin Emefiele, who was kidnapped by heavily armed abductors on Thursday, has been released.  Mrs. Emefiele who was kidnapped along the Benin-Agbor Road on Thursday alongside four others was released exactly 1 am Nigeria time.  It is further speculated that the kidnappers who earlier demanded N1.5 billion released Mrs. Emefiele after receiving N80 million ransom. The Police Public Relations Officer of Delta State has just confirmed the release,  but declined to comment on the issue of ransom being paid.

India Vice President Vists Nigeria

The India Vice President,  Mr.  Mohammad Hamid Ansari and his wife,  yesterday, arrived Nigeria, for a 3 day working visit. He was received the airport, by His Excellency, Vice President of Nigeria, Professor Yemi Osinbanjo and his Wife. The Indian Vice President will on this trip,  discuss bilateral relationship between the two countries and ways of opening up opportunities for businesses. It would be recalled that Nigeria is being praised for her present stance on corruption as most countries have reiterated it's support on doing more for the West African Country.

Boko Haram Leader, Abubakar Shekau releases New Video

The reportedly dead leader of the terrorist group,  Abubakar Shekau aka She-Cow has released a statement describing the his killing  and alleged reduction of the operational capability of Boko Haram as nothing but lies,  aimed at smearing the image of the Nigerian Army. Abuja Protest: Islamic Students Demand Release of El Zakzaky

Students mainly Islamic took to the streets of Abuja,  the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday to demand the release of Sheikh El-Zakzaky Leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria , who has been in military detention since December 2015. Rivers State Police Rescue Remaining 7 Oil Workers From Kidnappers

Seven remaining victims of the September 2, 2016 Kidnapping along Omoku/Elele axis of Rivers State have been rescued by the Rivers State Police.  This comes not later than a day after the escape of three other persons from the same kidnappers den. All 14 of them were kidnapped on September 2, 2016, Confirming the rescue of the oil workers, spokesman for the police in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement said the police smashed the hoodlums in the early hours of Sunday and rescued the abducted.  According to him, no ransom was paid. The victims are currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital. By this rescue all 14 kidnapped oil workers are out of captivity. The Police Commissioner, CP Rivers State  said that however, investigations is still on to unravel the circumstances surrounding the kidnap.

Josephine Orji, a Nigerian athlete has just shattered the World Record with a lift of 160kg to win the gold medal in the Women’s -84kg Power-lifting event at the ongoing Paralympics Games in Rio, Brazil. The latest gold medal is Nigeria’s 8th at the event. Nigeria now has 11 medals and is 10th on the overall medals table. Dr. Goodluck Jonathan Visits Babangida and Albdulsalami in Minna, Niger State.

Nigeria's former President Dr.  Goodluck Ebele Jonathan on Tuesday September 13th met with, Ibrahim Bambangida also a former Head of State in Minna, Niger State.  The former president also proceeded to visit another former military Head of State, Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar, also in Minna, the Niger State capital. At about 11am Goodluck Jonathan arrived Babangida’s residence and spent about one hour with his host before he left for Albdulsalami's Abubakar’s house which is right opposite IBB’s home. It was gathered that Jonathan was accompanied to the two former Nigerian leaders by a former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, from Zamfara State and his former Chief of Staff, Chief Mike Oghiadome, from Edo State. One of the leading and  biggest airline operators in Nigeria, Arik Air, just announced suspension of services this evening,  this is coming on the heels of the present economic growth of the country. Earlier,  Aero Contractors Airlines another operator also suspended operations,  this is coming at the heels of incessant power outage a most international airports across the country with the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos  State being the most affected. The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria FAAN, has issued a notice asking passengers to be calm,  as it is on the heels of the matter.

Passengers Besiege Aero Contractors Offices To Demand Refund On Purchased Tickets

The head office of the beleaguered airline, Aero Contractors, was, at the weekend, besieged by passengers who had bought flight tickets in the hope of traveling at a later date. They were at the office to demand the refund of the sums paid for tickets. The passengers also stormed the office of the airline at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos. They, however, met the office locked, as it has been since the airline announced a suspension of its flight operations last week. When Reporters visited the airline's terminal on Saturday, it observed that some passengers had booked flights to Accra, Ghana, later this month. Such passengers were shocked to learn that the airline had suspended flight operations to the West African country. Nigeria's External reserves rise by $595m in five days

The nation’s foreign exchange reserves have increased by $595m to hit a one-month high of $26.196bn, the latest data from the Central Bank of Nigeria have shown. This came on Monday just as the naira traded around 412- 413 against the United States dollar at the parallel market, compared to 414/dollar on Sunday. External reserves stood at $25.6bn as of August 24, down from $26.21bn on July 28, the CBN data showed. The reserves declined from $26bn on August 4, 2016 to $25.97bn on August 5 as the CBN stepped up dollar sales to boost liquidity at the interbank market and support the ailing naira. The central bank has been selling dollars regularly at the interbank market to prop up the naira since it floated it on June 20. The currency touched an all-time low of 365.25 per dollar on August 18 at the official market. In June and July, the reserves hovered between $26.3 and $26.4bn, but fell to $26.12bn on August 1. The reserves had stood at $26.4bn between May 24 and 27, after droppi
