Ekaette Utip wins 2016 Akwa-Ibom Anniversary Queen Beauty Pageant

Ekaette Utip, representing Ikot Ekpene,  has emerged as the 2016 Akwa-Ibom Anniversary Queen (AAQ),  she was selected from a large array of beauty queens representing the different 31 local government areas.

She goes home with a brand new car and a cash prize of Three hundred thousand Naira,(N300,000.00)  a one year modelling contract,  among other prizes/gifts.

The 1st runner-up is Miss Etinan.  Miss Nsit Ubuim also emerged as the second runner-up.

Halliburton Scandal: EFCC Traces N13.5b To Private Account

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has uncovered how $32.5 million of about $200 million fines from Halliburton Energy Services was allegedly paid into a private account. Th e cash was said to be missing because the anti-graft agency could not ascertain whether or not it was remitted into the Federal Government’s account. A top shot with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation(NNPC), Mr. Roland Ewubare, who was one of the lawyers involved in the Settlement Agreement with Halliburton, has been given up to September 15 to submit a letter authorising him by the Federal Government  to open the private escrow account. Ewubare told the EFCC that, as the then Executive Secretary of the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), he acted in national interest in opening the escrow account. Bodies of Three Drowned Soldiers Recovered

Assisted by military personnel, local divers in Bayelsa State have recovered bodies of three drowned soldiers yesterday in Brass LGA area. This was contained in series of statements issue by the Bayelsa State Chapter Chairman of The National Maritime Union,  Mr. Lloyd Sese, He said the tragic boat accident that claimed the lives of four soldiers in Brass Local Government area was due to poor logistics and use of low powered engine boats to convoy military personnel. Mr. Sese, who commented on the incident yesterday in Yenagoa, said the preliminary investigation conducted by the Brass Unit of the Maritime Union showed that the accident could have been avoided if adequate logistics were arranged with high capacity engine boats used.
