Angelina Jolie files for divorce from Brad Pitt

Humanitarian activist and Actress Angelina Jolie has filed a divorce from her husband, actor Brad Pitt. Ms. Jolie’s lawyer, Robert Offer, confirmed the development, saying that her “decision was made for the health of the family.” The couple married in 2014 but had been together since 2004 after meeting on the set of the film Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Mr. Pitt divorced his then wife, Jennifer Aniston, in 2005. Ms. Jolie was previously married to actors Billy Bob Thornton and Jonny Lee Miller. According to the BBC, Ms. Jolie is asking for physical custody of the couple’s six children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, Knox, and Vivienne. Zahara was adopted from an orphanage in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Ms. Jolie has used her celebrity to fight for humanitarian cause. Yahaya Bello's Election Upheld by Supreme Court

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, had his election upheld moments ago by the Supreme Court of Nigeria. This news follows a protracted political and legal battle for the governorship in Kogi State following the death of gubernatorial candidate Abubakar Audu moments before his confirmation by the Independent National Election Commission (INEC). Our correspondent at the Supreme Court learned that the seven-man panel, lead by Justice Sylvester Nguta, dismissed the appeals filed by the former running mate of Mr. Audu, James Faleke and others. The justices stated that justification for their decision would be provided on September 30th. The court’s decision, which was unanimous, made judicial history because the situation had never been accounted for in existing constitutional laws.

Boko Haram Ambush Military Escort

Today afternoon, suspected elements  of the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists who were foraging for food, ambushed troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE escorting commercial vehicles from Damboa to Maiduguri, at Sanda general area, Borno State. Unfortunately, 5 civilians lost their lives at the incident and another died on the way to the hospital. Three soldiers also sustained injuries. The wounded have been evacuated to Maiduguri. Consequently, another robust patrol team has been despatched to reinforce the troops, clear the general area and pursue the terrorists. This unfortunate incident has brought to the fore the need for more vigilance and cooperation amongst all. We would like to assure the public that we would not allow this isolated incident to thwart the peace and security commuters enjoy along the route and all other opened routes in the North East. Lead Terror Suspect: Ahmed Khan Rahami Arrested In New Jersey Following Shootout With Police

Lead suspect of the recent bomb attacks in New York City and New Jersey has been arrested in the town of Linden, New Jersey according to reports. The terror suspect, Ahmed Khan Rahami, is now in police custody following a shootout with police according to News Channel, CNN. According to the CNN correspondent, eyewitnesses in New Jersey found that Mr. Rahami was found sleeping “in a vestibule near a bar” which precipitated a shootout with police. Mr. Rahami has been taken to the hospital in an ambulance with unconfirmed bullet wounds. Law enforcement officials have said that a tip from the public lead to locating Mr. Rahami eventually leading to his arrest. Police are investigating Mr. Rahami’s connection to the detonation of a bomb in the Chelsea area of New York City, another unexploded pressure cooker bomb in Chelsea, and a pipe bomb in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Rivers State Police Rescue Remaining 7 Oil Workers From Kidnappers

Seven remaining victims of the September 2, 2016 Kidnapping along Omoku/Elele axis of Rivers State have been rescued by the Rivers State Police.  This comes not later than a day after the escape of three other persons from the same kidnappers den. All 14 of them were kidnapped on September 2, 2016, Confirming the rescue of the oil workers, spokesman for the police in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement said the police smashed the hoodlums in the early hours of Sunday and rescued the abducted.  According to him, no ransom was paid. The victims are currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital. By this rescue all 14 kidnapped oil workers are out of captivity. The Police Commissioner, CP Rivers State  said that however, investigations is still on to unravel the circumstances surrounding the kidnap.
