Boko Haram Ambush Military Escort

Today afternoon, suspected elements  of the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists who were foraging for food, ambushed troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE escorting commercial vehicles from Damboa to Maiduguri, at Sanda general area, Borno State. Unfortunately, 5 civilians lost their lives at the incident and another died on the way to the hospital. Three soldiers also sustained injuries. The wounded have been evacuated to Maiduguri. Consequently, another robust patrol team has been despatched to reinforce the troops, clear the general area and pursue the terrorists. This unfortunate incident has brought to the fore the need for more vigilance and cooperation amongst all. We would like to assure the public that we would not allow this isolated incident to thwart the peace and security commuters enjoy along the route and all other opened routes in the North East. Lead Terror Suspect: Ahmed Khan Rahami Arrested In New Jersey Following Shootout With Police

Lead suspect of the recent bomb attacks in New York City and New Jersey has been arrested in the town of Linden, New Jersey according to reports. The terror suspect, Ahmed Khan Rahami, is now in police custody following a shootout with police according to News Channel, CNN. According to the CNN correspondent, eyewitnesses in New Jersey found that Mr. Rahami was found sleeping “in a vestibule near a bar” which precipitated a shootout with police. Mr. Rahami has been taken to the hospital in an ambulance with unconfirmed bullet wounds. Law enforcement officials have said that a tip from the public lead to locating Mr. Rahami eventually leading to his arrest. Police are investigating Mr. Rahami’s connection to the detonation of a bomb in the Chelsea area of New York City, another unexploded pressure cooker bomb in Chelsea, and a pipe bomb in Elizabeth, New Jersey. Rivers State Police Rescue Remaining 7 Oil Workers From Kidnappers

Seven remaining victims of the September 2, 2016 Kidnapping along Omoku/Elele axis of Rivers State have been rescued by the Rivers State Police.  This comes not later than a day after the escape of three other persons from the same kidnappers den. All 14 of them were kidnapped on September 2, 2016, Confirming the rescue of the oil workers, spokesman for the police in the state, Nnamdi Omoni, in a statement said the police smashed the hoodlums in the early hours of Sunday and rescued the abducted.  According to him, no ransom was paid. The victims are currently receiving medical attention at an undisclosed hospital. By this rescue all 14 kidnapped oil workers are out of captivity. The Police Commissioner, CP Rivers State  said that however, investigations is still on to unravel the circumstances surrounding the kidnap.

Nigerian Army via the Nigeria’s Defence Headquarters has issued a warning to journalists against embarking on coverage of security risk areas in the North East for documentary purpose and the likes without due authorization from the military authorities. Its spokesman, Brig.-Gen. Rabe Abubakar, in a statement on Wednesday said the practice was not only capable of jeopardizing the success of the on-going military operations in the area but also posed great concern to the safety of such journalists. Continuing he said, “Much as the military is not trying to gag the press from carrying out their legitimate duties, permission should be sought from the Armed Forces before embarking on such venture. “This will enable adequate security to be provided for such journalists by the military. Troops Of 1 Division Raid Armed Bandits Camps In Zamfara State

Troops of 223 Battalion, 1 Brigade, 1 Division Nigerian Army, have continued to raid and clear suspected livestock rustlers and armed bandits camps in Zamfara State. The troops during a raid on suspected armed bandits camp at Dumburum forest, Zurmi Local Government, killed 7 livestock rustlers and recovered large quantity of ammunition and a pair of military camouflage uniform. Similarly, the troops also cleared suspected armed bandits camp at Bagega general area in Anka Local Government Area. Although the bandits managed to escape, an abandoned motorcycle was recovered and the camp was destroyed. The troops also proceeded and cleared livestock rustlers and armed bandits camps located at Gando forest, near Baruba village in Bukkuyum Local Government Area of the State. The troops killed 8 armed bandits during an exchange of gunfire.  The troops have also mobilized to Kalgo village in Maru Local Government Area in pursuit of armed bandits that attacked the village.
